The "open" side of the Shark is called "fibre channel" (FC), not FICON. 
FICON is another protocol on top of the FC protocol.  It used only with 
mainframes.

Your storage guys will get confused if you say "FICON" to them but mean 
"FC".  :-)  Annoying, but true.
