Phil, We migrated from a z800 to a z9-BC and created the initial IOCP this way:
1) Downloaded the CHPID Mapping Tool from IBM Resource link, and installed it on a Windows PC. 2) Used Resource link to download the CFR report (hardware report) for our new z9-BC 2) At the z800 HMC, exported the current IOCP to diskette. 3) Opened the CHPID Mapping Tool and imported the z800 IOCP, and the CFR report file. 4) Let CHPID Mapping Tool deal with PCHIDS, and let it create an IOCP for the z9-BC 5) Using the mapping tool, we tweaked and altered the IOCP until we were happy with it. 6) Exported the new IOCP from the CHPID Mapping tool to diskette. 7) Imported the new IOCP from diskette to the HMC of the z9-BC Subsequent IOCP gens were performed using VM running on the new z9-BC.
