Without getting into too much detail (mostly because I can't remember the history), the z/VM TCP/IP stack sends ALL of the IP addresses in its HOME list down to any OSA that it is attached to. Changes have been made to the OSA driver in z/VM 5.3.0 such that this no longer occurs.
