According to Romney White of z/VM Design: "z/VM will support OS//390 V2R8 if and only if OS/390 V2R8 is supported on the underlying hardware (regardless of whether z/OS V2R8 is still in support).
Romney" I would take this to mean that as long as you can run OS/390 2.5 natively on the z800, you should be able to run it under any version of z/VM.
