Are there any messages on the OPERATOR console about "MAINT forced by SYSTEM"?

By default, the system will try to forced of disconnected userids that have a
VM READ or CP READ posted 15 after they disconnect.

If you get MAINT connected for a little while with Logon MAINT HERE, then
something is forcing the disconnect. Often that happens if TCPIP buffers are
too small (what's the screen size on the emulator logged onto MAINT?). Look
for TCPIP error messages in files from TCPIP in the reader queue of TCPMAINT.
Also, check for NETSTAT display command syntax for anything with buffer
displays (sorry, I'm not logged on and don't have NETSTAT's peculiar syntax
memorized yet).

Are you working with a tape drive when MAINT is forced DISC? Sometimes pending
I/Os to hardware devices can prevent even logon HERE from working until the I/O
is complete of canceled (see: CP HALT rdev) - if logon HERE works, count your
blessings.

Let us know how it goes.

Subject: HCPLGA361E LOGOFF/FORCE pending for user MAINT

Hi

I am receiving this message every time I try to force MAINT. I think
something is not right leading up to this. I tried logging on to MIANT
with HERE I get the user id for a few minutes and than by session is
lost. I can not see any logs that might give me any indication what
might be happening. Any help would be appreciated!

Thank You,

Terry Martin
