As Alan already correctly predicted, you have your console spooled CONT
(continuous). That means that you want to append multiple files to the same
output spool file. It's useful, for example, if you want to print or punch
multiple files as one spool member. In the case of console output, CP CLOSE
CONSOLE closes one output console "file"  and, since console is still
STARTed, a new console file is immediately opened in the same spool member.
Spool member will be closed when you issue CP SPOOL CONSOLE CLOSE, and a new
spool member will be opened and a first console "file" in it until you issue
CP SPOOL CONSOLE STOP.
