I'm not Alan but here is my response. We have been running EMC DASD with z/VM for several years. We have never done anything special in z/VM to support the EMC DASD. We currently are on z/VM 5.4. Our IOGEN work is done from z/OS and we use the SnapShot function under z/OS to copy (backup) z/VM volumes. We had been using PAV stuff on a limited bases but we dropped that. We don't run z/OS under z/VM, we only run zLinux under z/VM.
