Spool files get as timestamp the time they are opened, not when they are closed. My SFPURGER had an exception for OPERATNS: never delete anything. Stronger: when one of my 20 VM systems had a NOHOLD dump in its reader, I got an email sent to my reader.
This is a good reason to implement some automation that closes spool files around midnight for example. With the example below: if you don't close CONSOLE files and VM runs longer than 60 days, right after the first IPL, all consoles look "old" and get purged.
