>>>> Interesting thought. It is my understanding that most (all) other
breed evaluations are done by people within the breed - it would be
interesting to see things done with people outside a breed evaluating them.
... I have always contended that when you stand outside a breed/or training
method it is easier to see the abusive or down side to what is considered
the 'norm' - when you are inside the breed/ discipline it is just seen as
the way things are done....

That's what I am thinking about - that you get a fresh perspective from
people outside the breed. And, while there are always a few traits that
distinguish one breed from another, there are certain conformation traits
that are desirable in all breeds, traits that point to long-term soundness.

And, I think an added advantage of having a couple of people from outside
the breed look at the horses is that people who don't deal with the details
of a breed on a day-to-day basis aren't as likely to get swept up in the
show trend du jour.

contrived and dishonest -- but the myth -- persistent, persuasive and
unrealistic."

"All truth passes through three stages.
First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." ~ Arthur Schopenhauer
