They look pretty normal to me, at least the Sportage model. Nancy, I have to agree w/ your friend's horse--I think you were nuts, too for going out in a driving rain! I have a ? model (ie, I can't remember what it is) that's about 15+ years old, very comfortable. But in the winter I ride w/ my ski helmet--much warmer, and I don't like any of the helmet covers/ear cover things--too uncomfortable, and they slide around/pinch my ears. The ski helmet covers and protects the same area, but obviously it's warmer, and it covers my ears. I added a visor to it--works great for both riding and skiing.
