Yes, Asbergers is sometimes referred to as high functioning autism. The two kids we know with Asbergers are an absolute kick. Both are quite verbal and the boy is very intelligent.
Something he said at school once has really helped me remember what the world of autism is like. There was a school assembly and he asked not to go because it would be noisy "and the noise bothers those sensitive little hairs inside my ears." He was in the first grade.
