When thinking about that again...I think these horses are so easy that a person can tend to rush things simply because we're excited to get them started. No one is more excited than me to start Solon, but I'm patiently waiting until this fall. He isn't 4 until August 30. I've even booked vacation in September so I can work with him.... However, if it doesn't seem that he's ready physically (he's been ready mentally since he was 6 months old)...then I will wait until next year. Cara sat on him for a moment this past January just to see how he would react...he was fine with it. But I wasn't. Even though Cara is a lightweight, tiny person...it still bothered me that we were perhaps putting stress on that young body of his... Even Dagur at 4 still needed time to fill out. The extra six months he was given to grow and strengthen made a huge difference in the feel of his back. Much more muscle and substance to his back when he was given some extra time.. I can see that Solon might be maturing the same way... Yes, Solon is going to be outstanding....but I want him to stay outstanding to well into his 20's... Good suggestion about ground driving though...I should start training Solon to do that.. Wanda
