Good suggestions, especially about riding in groups that will meet your needs and you feel comfortable. When we ride in groups we always check with the group before increasing speed and break up the group - leaving at different times, rather than trying to hold horses back (as not all horses are comfortable with this depending on the rider). We use the leap frog technique with young horses as well to get them used to being in different positions = leader, follower, in the middle.
