Ah - what a great article. I have an off-track Standardbed that has the saddest eyes I have ever seen. He is twelve years old and I know of eight owners. There could have been more. Right now a friend is riding him while her horse heals. He searches for my face when we are out riding and watches for me when she's tacking up. He seems to seek reassurance. There is no way I would sell him, even though I have never quite figured out what he would enjoy. He has earned a permanent home.
