Today, Andi rode with another horse for the first time since leaving the trainer's on Nov. 1. He has been doing wonderful going out by himself, and today, all but one of our little group of "Nag Hags" bailed for different reasons (including my mother). The one lady down the street who was going to go riding today has an 8yo QH mare who is a cutting mare. She is the most laid back, non-spooky, easy-going horse there is - and a mare, to boot! Since I did not feel like fighting with Whisper today, and I wanted to wait for a little warmth, I decided I would take Andi out with her. I was going to wait untill after the first of the year to take Andi out with another horse, but this looked like a good situation with an excellent, calm horse, and Andi has done so well alone, I thought he would like the "treat". He did perfect with her! I did have to slow his walk down because she is, after all, a QH, but that was good for him, too! He also learned that a horse trotting up behind him was nothing to worry about - after all, she IS a QH and none of them know what a good, working, walk is! Plus, Andi thought she was pretty cute and kept throwing glances her way! We rode in front most of the time (because of his walk!) but also rode behind her and beside her and he was great. We'll go back to riding alone next weekend.
