They certainly do make some that are potentially very severe. I have quite a few different Mylers that I bought when the Myler brothers were still making them. We don't use many of them, only the comfort snaffle without the slots. As soon as the headstall or reins are attached to the slots you add pressure to the poll. You also have to be a bit careful with the width of the Mylers because of the way they are shaped and not get them too narrow.
