haha. I borrowed a long shanked walking horse bit for Jaspar one time, I thought I would stay out of his mouth and be gentle as possible. We went up a huge steep man made clay pile, just almost straight up, and at the top he started barrelling down so without thinking I applied the same pressure I ordinarily would on his mild bit and voila, he unceremoniously threw hisself back on his haunches and sideways, dumping me to tumble down the hill. Last I saw of him he was galloping across a huge barren sandpit leaving me to walk back to the barn. Then at last years christmas parade i bought off ebay a fancy schmancy etched silver bit with long curved shanks thinking a parade, i wouldnt need to be in his mouth at all So the whole parade every time I barely touched the reins he would back up ten yards, angrily head tossing and tail switching, always crashing into the riders behind me and causing trouble! Janice-- even good horses have bad days sometimes.
