And if for no other reason (and there are plenty of others) BLUP, as 
supposedly used in the Icelandic breeding evaluations, fails right there, 
before you look any further.  From a pure math and statistics point of view, 
you can't have a clue how well you are achieving your goal if the goal is 
moving all over the place.
