i think they will take up to about 300 pounds. They can seem to be open all the way but if you dont actually feel a click in the legs they can fold up on you, also will shift in deep sand. Icey owners wont have this problem, but with jas I had to tie extra string to the end and you have to desensitize a horse to pulling something swinging up from the ground to the saddle. Not a big deal tho. Also with jas, and not with an icey, was really not tall enough to be of much help for me... Janice -- even good horses have bad days sometimes.
