I'm wondering if there is a better source of information and/or tools to
assist in migrating the Icinga 1.x configuration files into Icinga 2.x? Some
advice, some written procedure, some better scripts? I've got about 4,000
service checks, 700 hosts, and a bunch of different notification types need
to get ported over, anything that can do a good job of automating this and/or
giving me a step-by-step procedure would be welcome.
I'd suggest looking in detail at the apply rule capabilities, given what you
can accomplish with dictionaries and arrays, you may be able to define a
significantly smaller amount of services and have them apply broadly. Since
we don't know anything about your existing env, it's hard to speculate.
I would however be skeptical about migrating a large config from the
Nagios format into Icinga 2 one to one without leveraging all the new
syntax provides.
+1
I couldn't have said it better.
Kind regards,
