such message queues are still on my watchlist, but sometimes the 
dependencies just don't work on special os and this is definitely a show 
stopper then.
like boost in (mod_)gearman isn't everywhere available, but works very 
nice as *check/eventhandler distribution setup .

since you've already implemented that - any reasons not to use rabbitmq 
or activemq? i do remember an article in past c't or iX .. or over here.
