The 2005 Pacific Coast Singlehanded Sailing
Championships happened this weeked at the site of the
2005 North American Championships in Honolulu HI. The
weather conditions were blustry to say the least with
the women seeing 5-17 on Friday and a winter storm
roling in to meet the guys on Saturday with gusts
exceeding 30 knots. The shifty blasting conditions
proved to be great spectating with capsizes and
wipeouts nearly every race on Saturday and Sunday.
With 80 degree water it was just plain fun. Big
thanks to Jeff Snyder who ran the race committee
through the weekend and to all the boat owners who
lent us their boats. Congrats to Tinja
Anderson-Mitterling, Evan Brown, Greg Helias and Emery
Wager for qualifiying for the North American
Championships later this fall.
