Highlights
Saturday: Easterly Breeze at 7-13kts. It was an overcast and cold day on
the Charles. Very good racing throughout the day with many tight finishes.
Courses
were long modified windward-leeward with a leeward gate. No breakdowns, one
protest,
only a couple general recalls, very few individual recalls, no capsizes. It
was very
nice sailing, except for the cold issue.
Sunday: Easterly at 8-14kts. Another cold and overcast day with a couple of
rain squalls
in the afternoon that temporarily dropped the breeze a bit but then back to
"breeze on".
Boats rotated at the sailing pavilion dock to keep the off-set division toasty
warm
between races. Courses were set up at the western end of the upper Charles
River Basin,
sailing windward-leeward twice around, with a leeward gate for the entire day.
No
breakdowns, two repairs between races, one protest, one capsize, one general
recall,
few individual recalls. The Sunday starts were very impressive as so many
boats, a
dozen or more, really nailed the starts each race. There was a sigh of relief
from
the RC each time, as the fleet held position below the "course side" and
avoided
numerous general recalls.
Thanks to Judges Fran Charles and Captain John Millar, and thanks to the
competitors
for settling things out on the water and keeping the Judge's workload light.
