REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday: Conditions were 18-22 out of the east, very overcast with
some drizzling rain. 4 races completed. Windward 4's on the 1st race
of a set and Windward 5's on the second, with a leeward gate. Races
averaged 22-24 minutes. Breeze cranked up to 30-32 knots as soon as we
attempted race 5 after lunch resulting in the end of the day. No
protests, one redress for a sunken rudder.
Sunday: 11 races were completed. Conditions were south breeze for the
first race slowly going right throughout the day until it was northwest,
at 3-14 knots with very large shifts. Courses were Windward leeward
twice around with a leeward gate, once again averaging 20 to 25 minutes.
Lunch break was after 6 races. No protests no breakdowns.
Big thanks to the KP Midshipmen for excellent RC work through the big
winds Saturday, and big wind shifts Sunday.
Congratulations to the top four sailors for qualifying for the Carl Van
Duyne Regatta - MAISA Mens Single-handeds - hosted this year by the
Naval Academy on October 7th and 8th.
