REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday: Postponement until 1300 due to excessive winds from the south
at 25-30 gusting to 45 knots. Race 1 was started at 1320 and sailed in
a southwesterly at 18 knots. A line of breeze came through resulting in
a short postponement on the docks before starting race 2. In race 3 a
35 knot blast for 5 minutes resulted in finishing that race and that was
the end of the day as the winds sustained once again at 25-30 knots.
Races were windward leeward twice around with a leeward gate and were
20-25 minutes long. 2 protests resulting in 1 DSQ. 1 BKD was awarded
for an extreme bending of a mast.
Sunday: West winds at 25-30 gusting over 40 resulted in waiting until
1300 to cancel the remainder of the regatta.
Thanks to the Judges Bill Ludlum, Clay Bischoff and John Mooney for a
job well done.
Thanks to the Kings Point Midshipmen for putting on an excellent regatta
and getting off three races in trying conditions.
Congratulations to Georgetown for winning and the top 7 advancing to
ACC's.
