REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday: A perfect fall day with temps around 60 degrees, lots of sun, and
absolutely ideal sailing conditions on the Providence River. A light
Southeasterly began the day and quickly went right to the South and built to
10-14 knots. Strong outgoing current made the right side of the upwind legs a
bit favored in the afternoon. Courses were Gold Cups and W/L's (3 or 4 legs)
with gates. One protest resulting in a DSQ for Brown B-division. Thanks to
judges Sue Reilly, George Crocker, and Tom Kirk for keeping the competitors in
line. Dartmouth opens up a nice lead after day one. Rain and East winds in
the forecast for tomorrow.
