University of South Florida Coed Sailing Team
 
Job Description 
 
The University of South Florida St. Petersburg is searching for a Head Coach - 
Coed Sailing Team. USF-SP is located at Bayboro Harbor on Tampa Bay in the city 
center of St. Petersburg. The St. Petersburg campus offers undergraduate and 
graduate degrees with an enrollment of about 4000 students, while the USF Tampa 
campus has an enrollment of approximately 43,000 students. The sailing and 
sunshine are legendary. We train in an open water venue on Tampa Bay and we 
compete regularly in NEISA, MAISA, SAISA, and PCC Intersectional Regattas. 
 
Minimum qualifications are:  Bachelor's Degree; three years or more coaching at 
the high school level or above; strong interpersonal skills; proven coaching 
skills; knowledge and understanding of ICSA and ISAF rules; ability to relate 
to college students and to lead and teach student athletes; administrative 
experience with program budget processes, team travel, on site team needs, and 
general program administration; and, ability to teach advanced collegiate 
sailing skills. 
 
Preferred qualifications are:  one year or more coaching a college/university 
team which competes at the national level; skills as an accomplished 
competitive sailor in small boats at the national level; knowledge and 
sensitivity to the student development process and its relationship to the 
student athlete; ability to guide team related fund raising programs; and, 
ability to recruit student athletes. 
 
This is a nine month appointment (August - May), and graduate level courses are 
available.
