Dear Team Racers- The Charles River Open Team Race is going to be a historic
event this year. Entries are pouring in and ought to be confirmed after this
weekend. Our magic numbers on fleet size are 48 and 54. If we can’t get
to 54 then we will hold back to 48. This being said, it makes sense for all who have not registered
their three helmspersons to do so immediately. If you didn’t get a team
together on time, please consider getting on the wait list by naming three
skippers. We would love to break the record and have the largest team race
regatta ever held in the world!!!! Depending on numbers, seeding rounds will start on Friday
evening, June 22, after work, or on Saturday morning. We are trying to have a
band, pizza, and a fun time for all who are racing or just watching on Friday.
Redbones dinner will be followed by the infamous CRO party on Saturday night. Delicious
leftovers on Sunday with tons and tons of non-stop team racing in 36 FJs and 18
420s will make this an event to be a part of. We desperately need RC and logistical assistance for all 3
days, so please consider writing back if you can help for any days or parts of
days. Pass this request along to family or friends who might be anxious to
pitch in and help us out. Volunteers are what make the MIT Sailing Program so
special. All registered team captains will get emails early next week
confirming arrival times for seeding rounds. Looking forward to seeing everyone
in Red Sox Nation next weekend. -Franny http://sailing.mit.edu/Calendar/Events/CROTR07/ ----------------------------------- Francis Charles MIT Sailing Master 'Jack Wood' Sailing Pavilion 3 Ames Street Cambridge, MA 02142 T- 617-253-2875 W- 617-253-4884 C- 857-221-0828 |
