SAT:
We started our first race at 12:25, after waiting out dense fog in the morning;
we started the day with one fleet, A fleet, on the water. The breeze was from
SW-WSW @ 10-12. A fleet in FJs was able to complete 2 races before the thick
fog rolled in. The first B division race had to be abandoned due to fog.
At 3:00 we started racing again, with B fleet only on the water. B fleet
completed their first set in a WNW @ 5-12. A fleet went back on the water @
3:40 and completed their 3rd race. The breeze picked up, resulting in many of
the boats of the water capsizing, races were abandoned for the rest of the day.
A Special Thank You to ALL of the coaches and sailors who were on the water
helping to recover capsized boats and sailors. We are hoping to get our fleet
of 420s up and running in order to complete the event tommorrow.
SUN:
We got racing started today @ 10:45. The breeze was NNW at 10-15 all day. We
started the day sailing modified triangles and moved to trapezoids after the
first set in each division. We had 16 teams competing in one fleet of 420s and
was able to complete 10 races in each division.
A special thank you to Maryland and Navy teams, who volunteered to not sail
today, so that the other competitors would not have to have a bye race.
We had 4 protests filed, resulting in two DSQs. One redress was granted.
