Final Results
REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday:
The fleet was sent out in a dying northerly which evaporated by the time the
fleet hit the starting area. At 11:15 a light easterly filled enough to get
off the first race. Each race after that saw the breeze steadily shift right
all the way to a Southwesterly and holding around 7-8 knots. Seven races were
completed all on W/L twice around courses. One protest was heard which was
disallowed, 4 redresses were given, and 3 breakdowns were handed out by the
jury. Many thanks to Conn College and the Perkins family for the use of their
powerboats and to our jury of Emily Hill, Meridith Killion and Matt Barry.
Sunday:
A very light northerly greeted the sailors which quickly died as they rigged.
A light SE breeze slowly filled at 10:45 which allowed a quick exit from YCYC
to the edge of LI Sound. 30 minutes later the the wind clocked right and built
to 4 knots and again kept building and clocking as the day progressed and
finally ended up SW at 8 knots. W/L twice around course was used again. One
protest was heard resulting in a DSQ. 4 more races were completed.
Congratulations to Fred Strammer(Brown), Cy Thompson (Roger Williams), Thomas
Barrows (Yale), and Billy Martin (BU)for qualifying to represent NEISA in the
ICSA Singlehanded National Championship atCornell University. Thanks again to
Conn College, The Perkins Family, Emily Hill, Matt Barry, and Meridith Killion.
