These are the final results for the Stu Nelson at Connecticut College
sailed on the Thames River:
After a breezy first day of racing where we got off 8 races in both A & B
fleet the conditions were not as perfect for the second day. We completed 1
full rotation for both A & B, sailing w4's and a w3, to total 10 races for each
fleet for the entire weekend.
A fleet started out in 9 knots out of the north, sailing w4s, with the wind
quickly building to 11 knots out of the north-northwest. Two races were
completed with the wind lightening.
B fleet went out in 5 knots shifting from northwest to southwest, one w4
and 1 w3 was completed. Along with a dying breeze racers had to contend with a
strong out going current in the center of the channel.
A fleet went out and completed 1 w4 before the breeze completely shut off.
After waiting on shore for breeze to fill in, to no avail, we called it a day.
No protests were filed today.
Congratulations to the qualifying teams! Thank you to everyone who
attended. Thanks again to the alums who helped coach, move marks and drive the
coach boat as well as heard protests. Also thanks to all the Conn sailors who
spent their weekend as the RC, those who helped out on shore and Kyle who did
the scoring.
