REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday. The competitors meeting commenced with a moment of silence
to remember PJ Wenner from the University of Hawaii. Racing started at 10AM
on
the Potomac River with South winds around 12mph with gusts over 20.
Conditions were ideal and four A races and 3 B races were run by 1:30PM.
Hearing reports of a squall line approaching the race committee sent B
division in and waited for the squall to pass. After the squall line
came through the wind died and racing was called for the day. One protest
was filed which was disallowed. Thanks to Andrew Campbell and Jackie
Schmitz
for hearing the protest. Tomorrow's forecast calls for a very strong west
wind
which means small courses and shifty winds in the Washington Sailing Marina
lagoon.
