SUNY Maritime, a 4-year engineering and sciences college located in Throggs
Neck, NY (the Bronx), is looking for a new coach to replace the incumbent as
he moves on to graduate school. The position has a competitive salary and
benefits and is uniquely positioned to give the candidate maximum exposure
to excellent sailing in MAISA, NEISA and the entire ICSA.

Candidates should have a superb command of dinghy sailing and should be
thoroughly familiar with the ICSA and its policies and procedures. Highly
qualified applicants will have competed in college sailing and worked as a
coach for 2+ years. Experience with offshore sailing and keelboat racing is
a plus, as is an interest in community sailing. A bachelor's degree is
required.

Descriptive Title: Head Sailing Coach
Department: Athletic Department
Reports to: Director of the Waterfront Programs

Salary Grade: Commensurate

Starting Date: August 3, 2009

Description of Duties:
? To provide direct supervision of Sailing team (Intercollegiate Dinghy and
Offshore) inclusive of: coaching, providing program philosophy and
organizational structure, developing/conducting practice schedules,
requesting equipment, supervising assistant coaches and general
student-athlete welfare support.
? Recruit high school sailors to strengthen and build on existing team
? Plan and supervise daily on-water practice, including drills and practice
races
? Oversee home regattas (Principal Race Officer) as to the operation, safety
and maintenance of the facility and all involved vessels.
? Plan for and travel with sailing team to all spring and fall regattas and
related activities (ie. MAISA meetings) and/or arrange team chaperone
(staff, alumni, friend of the College)
? Support hosting of high school/college regattas and other waterfront
activities by supervision, organization and planning
? Assist in the maintenance of the facilities including boats, equipment,
docks, shops and administrative spaces
? Teach learn to sail courses for Maritime College students and assist with
recreational sailing programs
? Duties assigned by the Waterfront Director

Required:
? Bachelor¹s Degree
? College sailing experience
? Knowledge of ICSA rules & regulations
? Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
