All,
The Vanguard 15 summer traveling roadshow has 4 big regattas in the NY area in a 5-week span. See below for more information. June 27-28: *New England Championship @ Cedar Point YC* (Westport, CT) (see plug from CPYC fleet captain below, with links to NOR and entry form) http://www.cedarpointyc.org July 11-12: *Vanguard 15 National Championship @ Sayville YC* (Great South Bay of Long Island, NY) -- online registration and NOR are finally posted at http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubs/v15Nationals/ - promises to have great breeze. July 18-19: *Larchmont Race Week @ Larchmont YC* (free Ben & Jerry's after racing each day, regatta leader after Saturday competes in a ladder match race event off the front dock against the leaders of other Race Week classes, complete with announcer and 200+ spectators) - http://www.larchmontyc.org/racing/race_week.shtml (scroll down for NOR and online registration) July 25-26: *Larchmont YC V15 Team Race* -- anyone who does Race Week can leave their V15 at LYC that week for the Team Race. 3x3, usually draws 10+ teams with great competition. College Sailors and Followers - *O**n June 27th-28th**, V-15 New Englands will be held at **Cedar Point YC<http://www.cedarpointyc.org/> ** in Westport CT. We are expecting *up to 40 boats, with a big dinner and party Saturday night. Things get going late enough Saturday morning for you to drive down, and we'll be done early enough Sunday for you to get back to that all-important internship (or, even better, instructor gig). The *NOR*<http://www.cedarpointyc.org/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=oIDxXTKDHOo%3d&tabid=140&mid=668>and *entry forms*<http://www.cedarpointyc.org/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=tZBtBvl%2bqeI%3d&tabid=140&mid=668>are online, so fill one out, send it in, and come and join us at the end of the month! As you may know, *CPYC** has the oldest and most active Vanguard 15 fleet in Connecticut*, attracting racers from New York City to Hartford, and all points in between. Our summer racing season is in full swing, with fleet racing (and occasional team racing) on Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons. *The first start on Thursdays is at 6:30pm, and it's 1:30pm for Sundays.* Both series run until Labor Day. On Thursdays we have a fleet dinner afterward, and on Sundays we join the other club fleets on the upper deck for an extended social hour when we get in from racing. In our fleet you'll find a former I-14 world champion, a leading international Etchells sailor, an America's Cup naval architect, as well as collegiate, post-collegiate and professional sailors of all types. Our racing is very competitive but low-key, and our club has a reputation for excellent race management (St. Petersburg Trophy 1998), and *CPYC has been awarded US Sailing's One Design Club of the Year Award twice already this decade, in 2002 and 2007*. We're hoping to make a run at all these trophies again this summer when we host Thistle Nationals in August and Star North Americans in September (as well as Atlantic and J-30 Nationals). If you're anywhere between Stamford and New Haven, Cedar Point is less than a half-hour away, and it's barely over an hour from Hartford, New London, or New York City. There really is no closer or more competitive short-course racing you'll find in Connecticut this summer. We have three fleet boats available for occasional use (just email me, jewing <at> aya[dot]yale[dot]edu, to reserve one), and if you want to join the club and leave a boat with us, you won't find more reasonable junior or young adult dues anywhere. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email me (jewing <at> aya[dot]yale[dot]edu). I look forward to seeing you on the water, and at the regatta! Cheers Jamie Ewing Fleet Captain, CPYC Vanguard 15s ________________________________________________ icsa mailing list [email protected] http://www.collegesailing.org/mailman/?listname=icsa
