Head Varsity Sailing Coach Description: Head Varsity Sailing Coach position (Full-Time 12 Month Position) Located on 188 acres of waterfront property at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida Responsibilities: The Sailing Coach is responsible for the operation, success, and growth of the Sailing Team at Eckerd College with the goal of providing opportunities for student development in a structured learning environment outside of the formal classroom setting and in conjunction with the mission of Eckerd College. Responsibilities to also include and not limited to: on-the-water coaching, team travel administration, budget oversight, practice/training organization, regatta management, recruitment of qualified student-athletes, monitoring the academic progress of team members, fleet management, fund-raising. Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. College sailing experience preferred Knowledge of ICSA rules & regulations. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent coaching and student mentoring skills College-level coaching experience preferred Well-developed written and oral communication skills and computer skills An understanding of the educational and developmental dimensions of intercollegiate sports in a residential liberal arts context.
