Saturday Skippers meeting was held at 9:30AM and every team listened to Dr. and Mrs. Jackson as they spoke about their son John (Georgetown '03). John was member of the Georgetown Sailing Team while in college and passed away just a few months after graduation in a tragic accident in Chicago, IL. John was a walk-on member of the team and quickly became a great friend and trusted teammate. John's spirit lives on in this regatta and it is the hope of the Georgetown team that everyone enjoys their time competing at John's event.
54 races were sailed in a Light to moderate ENE wind of 5-15mph. Two fleets of FJ's and one fleet of 420's were used. Races were held in the Washington Sailing Marina Lagoon. There are two races left in the 2nd round robin and once they are completed the fleet will split into a Championship and Consolation round of four. Many thanks to Peter Johns and Greg Kiely who served as umpires and protest committee. There are five protests pending which will be heard tomorrow at 9AM. Many thanks also to the Georgetown University undergrads who ran the races in the cold rainy conditions.
