The Vanguard 15 national class is in the process of making some minor,
sailor friendly changes. Apologies to everyone on the ICSA e-mail list who
is receiving this e-mail -- since there are a lot of past and present
college sailors who are active in the class, we have tended to use
the college sailing list serve from time to time to advertise ICSA events,
but we would like to stop doing that -- *there is a separate V15 e-mail list
that we would like to start using more frequently* -- please go to
http://www.v15.org/email/index.html to sign up to receive V15 class e-mails.

The 2010 national V15 schedule has been posted at
http://www.v15.org/schedule10/index.html -- there are regular fleet race and
team race regattas and weekly series in New York, Connecticut, Newport, Cape
Cod, Annapolis, the Gulf Coast, Chicago, San Francisco, Portland
and Seattle. If you have a boat in a place not listed above but want to
host a regatta or a regular series, just let us know and we'll be happy to
help advertise.

The highlight of the 2010 calendar is the V15 Nationals, to be hosted July
10-11 at SailNewport. An NOR will be available in the next 6 weeks.
Charter boats will be available through RITRA (www.ritra.org), and we expect
to have at least 65 boats on the starting line, hopefully more.

We recognize that this will be the third year in a row that the Nationals
have been in the northeast. That will also change going forward, and the
class will announce hosts for future nationals well in advance to give
venues and sailors more time to plan. So:

2011 nationals will be at Southern YC in New Orleans (early October, the
weekend before or after the Hinman, stay tuned for dates)

2012 nationals - we are looking for a host. Please let me know if you're
interested

2013 nationals will be in Chicago -- likely in late August or Labor Day
weekend, likely the weekend before or after the Hinman if that event is held
in Chicago.

There will be many other changes to the V15 class website (www.v15.org) in
the coming weeks, and the class newsletter will resume publication this
summer thanks to Ben Spiller, so visit the site often for updates.

Finally, I received a note from LaserPerformance to let everyone know that
the builder is changing the production schedule for Vanguard 15s. Instead
of building one-off boats, they plan to build boats in two annual batches
through the foreseeable future -- they are taking orders for the first batch
through March 31 for boats that will be delivered at the end of April. The
second batch will be of the Hinman boats, which will not be available until
October. If you plan to get a new V15, I strongly recommend that you
contact your local dealer ASAP to make sure your name is on the list so that
you can get a new boat when you want one.

We are open to suggestions on how to improve the class. If you have any
comments or questions about the Vanguard 15 class, please send 'em over.

Sincerely,
Peter Beardsley
V15 Class President
