Friends of Cornell Sailing, the alumni association of the Cornell Sailing
Team, is seeking a Head Sailing Coach starting for the Fall 2010 season.  This
is a great opportunity to come to a program with tremendous resources!



The team is based out of the Merrill Family Sailing Center, which was
completed last fall.  The team has a fleet of 18 420s, 3 J24s, 4 safety
boats and a strong and supportive alumni network.  We are looking for an
energetic and committed coach who is ready to invest his/her time and spirit
into the development of the Cornell Sailing Team.  A brief description of
the responsibilities and necessary qualifications are below.  If you have

*Responsibilities*:

The head coach is responsible for the success, growth and operation of the
Sailing Team at Cornell University.  The coach is responsible for providing
opportunities for student development outside the classroom.  Additionally,
the coach’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: on-the-water
coaching, team travel administration, budget oversight, practice/training
organization, regatta management, recruitment of qualified student-athletes,
fleet and facilities management, and fund-raising.



*Qualifications:*

- A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Master's degree is a plus.

- College sailing experience (as a competitor and coach) preferred.  Knowledge
of ICSA rules, regulations, and workings is highly desired.

- A proven track record of fund raising and program development.

- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

- Excellent coaching and student mentoring skills.

- Well-developed written and oral communication skills and computer skills.



*Compensation:* Competitive and commensurate with experience.
