South #1 /Senators Cup at St. Mary’s College of MD

Sixteen races completed in each division by 11:30am Sunday. All courses were
W-4’s with both offsets and gates. Shifty Northerly breezes dominated the
weekend on Horseshoe Bend of the St. Mary’s River.

Family weekend brought hundreds down to the River Center at St. Mary’s College
of MD for the Great Bamboo Boat Race (formerly known as the Great Cardboard
Boat Race) and a thousand dollars in cash prizes. The change in the race was
appropriate for the SMC Waterfront as ICSA regattas move towards greater
sustainability and support from Sailors for The Sea. SMC proudly takes part
in the Clean Regattas Program. All regatta support boats had water coolers on
board and the River Center water fountains have goosenecks for re-filling
bottles as well. For more information on how to become a “Clean Regatta” check

Congratulations to Navy on winning the 2010 Senators’ Cup!

Georgetown, St. Mary’s, UVA and ODU qualify for the War Memorial from the South
region.

A very tight race for the final spot in the MAISA club championships with UVA,
U MD, George Washington and William & Mary (winning on a tie break over
American University) for the four Southern qualifying spots at that event.
