It was a gorgeous fall weekend in Annapolis, with sunny skies and
temperatures in the 60s both days. The downside of the beautiful weather
was that we were left with a lack of wind both days, testing the patience
and skill of both the competitors and the race committee. On Saturday
morning, the wind was from the north at 3-6 knots and a course was set off
Triton Point in Annapolis Harbor. Three light and shifty races were sailed
per division before the wind shut off and the fleet was sent in for a lunch
break. After lunch, one more race was sailed in the dying northerly before
racing was called for the day.

Sunday morning began with a postponement ashore until 1100 when a light 3-5
knot southeasterly breeze filled in. the Race Committee set a course in the
Severn River off the Robert Crown Center and two windward leeward races were
sailed in each division before the wind lightened and everyone came in for a
short lunch break. While the fleet was ashore, the course was shifted
closer to the Severn River Bridge and the fleet sailed two more races before
the wind shut off for good. LT Ben Herring and his team of Midshipmen did a
great job getting the most out of the conditions and running fair races,
while judges Herb Larrabee, Scott Kirwin and Austin Kana kept the
competitors honest.

Congratulations to Georgetown for winning the 2010 Atlantic Coast Dinghy
