>From Dave Perry:

Hi all - thanks to a generous grant from an anonymous supporter of match
racing, I am able to offer some advanced match race training this winter at
no coaching or boat charter fee. For this clinic I can only accommodate six
teams...on a first come-first served basis.

Please forward the information on this opportunity to all college sailing
coaches right away, and please post this information on the ICSA match
racing website.

Also, please promote this opportunity at the ICSA Coaches Meeting in Park
City next week.

Thanks,
Dave Perry

*announcing the*

*North U Varsity Collegiate Match Racing Clinic***

*February 18-20, 2011***

at the

*Rollins College Alfond Boat House, Winter Park, Florida (near Orlando)***

*This Clinic will be coached by three-time National Match Racing Champion
Dave Perry.*

Dave will coach the advanced tactics and strategies needed to be competitive
and successful in Match Racing on the National level. He was at the 2010
Intercollegiate Match Racing National Championship, and will break down the
videotape of that racing to show what the teams did well and what they could
have done better. On the water, Dave will run the sailors through all the
scenarios, with on-the-spot feedback, and video replay after sailing.

The Clinic will focus on the three major aspects of Match Racing:

*The Pre-Start * Upwind & Downwind Tactics * Killing Penalties*

*Fee:* there is no charge for participating in this Clinic. The costs of
participating (boat use and coach fees) are generously underwritten by a
grant from an anonymous supporter of match racing and the support of Lake
Baldwin Florida Community Sailing LLC.

*Associated costs:* each team is responsible for arranging and paying for
their own transportation (we will try to arrange local transportation from
and to the airport and sailing center for teams that need it), accommodation
and food/beverage.

*Fly in:* to the Orlando airport. Winter Park is about a 20 minute drive
from the airport.

*Accommodation:* information on area motels is available from Larry
Landrigan (see below). Rates average around $100 a night for a room with two
queen beds.

*Boats:* Geary 18 keelboats with main, jib and spinnaker – sailed by teams
of 3 people.

Total crew weight will not be a factor in the Clinic.

*Number of teams:* this Clinic will be capped at six (6) teams, *accepted on
a first enter - first serve basis.* To enter, a team must call North U to
reserve a spot (number below), and send in an entrance deposit check for
$100 made out to North U (address below)), which will be refunded when the
team attends the Clinic, or cancels by writing to Dave Perry (address below)
by February 1, or is not accepted. NorthU can also take credit card
information over the phone.
