Coach Position Available- George Washington University Sailing Team

Location: Washington, DC

Facility: Washington Sailing Marina (Alexandria, VA)

Our homepage: WWW.GWSAILING.ORG

For about 50 years, the GW Sailing Team has been a small, student run
organization competing in the MAISA region of the ICSA. In 2008, the team was
re-organized and expanded, and became significantly more competitive. Since
then, our roster has grown to 30, we have acquired 8 brand-new FJ's from
LaserPerformance, and purchased a new 17-foot center-console skiff for
coaching. While we are currently a club team, our athletes have committed to a
varsity-level practice schedule and are determined to reach the next level of
performance.

The team has received backing from the GW Athletic Department to hire a coach.
The job would require the planning and oversight of most practices, (Tuesday
through Friday 330PM-6PM) and coaching at significant qualifier and
championship events for both our co-ed and women's teams. While the
student-driven leadership of the team will continue (Until such time as we
attain varsity status) and take care of most administrative issues, some
off-the-water management assistance and advice by the coach will be expected.
Examples of this would include basic boat repairs, motorboat management, and
attending weekly team meetings on campus.

Salary will be commensurate with experience, and will be negotiated directly
with the GW University Athletic Department. Tuition benefits at George
Washington University are also available.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelors Degree.
- At least 4 years of experience in high level racing or coaching, preferably
with experience on the intercollegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of college sailing rules, regulations, and practices.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.

To begin the application process, please send a resume' and cover letter via

Any questions regarding the position, our school, or our team are welcome, and
