Day one of the T S Stern Match Race was sailed in some beautiful Charleston
sunshine and 8-15mph breeze from the NW. C of C's matched J/22's were sailed
and the Cooper River provided some of it's usual impressive ebb. Still the
entire round robin one was sailed and there was some excellent match racing
to watch.
At day's end, Charleston leads the BUSA team (on their final leg of their
US tour) with Michigan and USF rounding out the top 4. Clemson, UF, Georgia
Tech and Auburn were 5-8. Tomorrow at 9:30 we start the semi finals and the
consolation round.

Sunday's forecast was for more of the same- breeze of 10-12 from the
Northwest with bright sun....the sun came but after the first flight, the
breeze painfully faded and eventually swung around to the southwest building
to 5mph.The teams still enjoyed some close racing and all the final and
consolation rounds were completed and all teams were on the road by 3pm.
The Charleston Cougars defeated Michigan (we appreciate they made the 14
hour drive!) for the overall win in some close racing. The overall results:

Charleston
Michigan
BUSA
USF
Clemson
Georgia Tech
UF
Auburn

Thanks again to Jackson Benvenutti and Camden Simon for their umpiring and
hosting a great Saturday evening debrief. Thanks too, to Katie Werley for
helping on the committee boat and the Cougar Squad for managing the ever
changing race course!

With respect,
