College Sailor of the Week
1. Purpose- to recognize and promote, through US Sailing and other
media sources, the weekly outstanding performances and contributions of
individual college sailors from the Intercollegiate Sailing Association. The
honor should reflect an association-wide distribution and should include
honorees that may be crews, or skippers, and of either gender. This honoree
shall possess one or more of the following characteristics:
A. Outstanding individual competitive performance at an
intersectional, major conference
regatta, or national championship
B. Significant contribution by an individual resulting, in a
team's overall success
at an ICSA competition
C. Significant display of leadership
D. Significant display of sportsmanship
E. Other characteristic, attribute, or achievement for which
timely national recognition
will benefit the Intercollegiate Sailing Association as a
whole.
2. Method for nomination and selection- There shall be a selection
committee composed of a graduate representative from each conference.
Nominations can come from the committee members and from an online mechanism
on www.collegesailing.org or US Sailing's college page. Nominations can be
made weekly. Nominations shall close on Monday at 6 pm Eastern. And the
selection committee will make the selection by Tuesday 10am Eastern. The
selection and brief bio will be sent to a liaison at US Sailing.
3. Restrictions- There shall be no limits on the number of winners
from an individual team or conference. Honorees need not be current member
of US Sailing.
