Saturday
Just after a 9:45 competitors meeting the breeze decided to completely die off.
After a short delay on land race 1A was completed in a light and
uncharacteristically shift southerly. Big swings in direction continued all
day long which kept the RC on it's feet and the sailors scratching their heads.
Six races in A and 4 races in B were completed today with the last A set
finishing at sunset. There were a handful of general recalls that can be
attributed to big swings in wind direction and also to just 1 overeager sailor
which would then pull the whole fleet over. Most starts were I flag starts.
Three protest were filed and will be heard at 9am tomorrow morning. A big
thank you to Susan Reilly for judging today and Matt Cohen for being the ICSA
rep and to Conn College for bring an extra coach boat. Breeze looks great for
tomorrow!!

Sunday
The forecast was correct! B division started race 5B at 10:15. At 10:20 the
breeze increased and held enough to force an abandonment. Huge waves cause
boats to swamp upwind causing a lot of carnage downwind. B was sent back out
for a 12:45 start and as soon as the horn sounded the breeze drastically
decreased and continued to do so until the final B race which was sailed in
about 5 knots and a difficult chop. Three B races and one A race were
completed today. Courses were W4's and 5's. One breakdown was awarded and one
protest was filed and disallowed. Congratulations to the Big Green for their
first victory at the Yale Women's in 10 years! O

Many thanks to Susan Reilly, Thomas Barrows and Alice Manard for hearing protest
today. And thanks to Matt Cohen as ICSA rep and Conn College for the use of
their coach boat.
