Day 1: Sailors, coaches, and umpires were postponed on shore until 1:45 due to the lack of wind. The race committee completed 22 races in a flood tide and southerly winds ranging from 8-15 knots. Sailors were sent ashore for the day when several extreme wind shifts and changes in velocity were deemed unsuitable for racing. Special thanks to our team of umpires who kept it fair and square: Steve Wrigley, Zeke Horowitz, Cole Alsopp, Samuel Stokes, Ed Norton, John Bowden, and Becky Bestoso.
Day 2: Decreasing clouds and sunshine made for some great racing in front of the USS Yorktown. Four races were completed using the Cooper River Cross Current Double Modified Port Triangle in a strong ebb tide and a northwesterly ranging from 8-12 knots. A digital N course was used for the remainder of the round as the breeze shifted north and the tide slackened. Stanford won a sail-off with Navy for the last remaining seed in the final four. One round robin was completed and a second was attempted but not before the sea breeze killed our northerly. Congratulations to the Georgetown Hoyas for winning the 2013 Bob Bavier Team Race. Thank you to Steve Wrigley, Zeke Horowitz, Cole Alsopp, Samuel Stokes, John Bowden, and Mike Palazzo for enforcing the rules and the team of Cougars for running a successful event in some trying conditions. Special thank you to USF for helping de-rig boats.
