The East River was angry today. Very cold and windy conditions were in
store for the ten teams at the Admiral Moore Team Race. Racing began at
10AM with a good number of morning capsizes, but a round robin of 45 races
was able to be completed by 2:30. Competitors were graciously given a short
break on shore to thaw out and eat a late lunch, after which we started
progress on Round Robin 2. The infamous SUNY Maritime current showed up in
full force in the afternoon, making for interesting racing and giving the
race committee fits with lots of dragging anchors. In all, 65 races were
completed with the last boats in the fleet hitting the dock just after 5PM.
Three protests were filed, resulting in two DSQs. Thanks to Scott Ikle for
helping hear the protests.

A big thanks goes to the Maritime sailors for toughing out the nasty
conditions and cranking out a lot of quality races. The goal for tomorrow
is to complete the second round robin and a final four and the forecast is
promising for that.

After day one Hobart/William Smith leads with a record of 11-2. Full scores
