Sunday greeted the SAISA women racers with a very sunny, warm but windless
morning. The fleet hesitated for about an hour and a half for a light seabreeze
to materialize...which finally occurred and the first race started at 10:50.
Six sets were sailed in some nice, relatively steady 5-8mph southeast breeze
with the typical ripping ebbing tide. Still the racing was good and rolling
well until a storm developed and threatened the harbor. Racing was postponed
and the fleet brought back to the marina. Once the threat passed the fleet
gathered for 2 more races, for a total of 8 sets, in the Copper River right in
front of the Yorktown. The racing was close but congrats go to the Eckerd
Tritons for their win followed by Charleston and USF. There were no breakdowns
or protests. Thanks to the Cougars for working hard to run a smooth, fine event.
