i don't get it. what did you mean by 'it'? af_unix, af_inet, or ...?

yes it's true that tcp/ip is a network protocol. but it can be used
_locally_.  While unix socket (af_unix) will always be used locally.
When used locally, we can't say it is used in a network, can we?

moreover, AFAIK OSI is reference model for network protocol, not for
network.

so i propose that we should judge whether something is a network or not
by its physical layout (i.e. the presence of more than one hosts), not
by the protocol used.
