Oh...oh....trouble on the horizon for us palm lovers...........??
ooooor...........
Merupakan "new opportunities" jika PalmOne bisa mendapatkan CEO yang justru
lebih bagus dan visionary dari yang sebelumnya.

palmOne a Sinking Ship? [Babble] - Posted by Sven @ 14:47 (GMT)
With the announcement of palmOne's CEO Todd Bradley's resignation, it
seems palmOne is headed down another gummy chapter in their long
history of the PDA. Not since the buy out by 3COM (who purchased then
Palm's parent company, U.S. Robotics) has it looked so bad for the
Palm. Bradley's stepping down spells sign of doom ahead and he's
jumping ship. His statement that he's `done what he wanted to do' is
always a curious one for leaders to make when they move on. History
reveals they never really are as successful in their next job and the
entity they leave behind withers. Think of Jordan and him leaving the
Bulls for some baseball. Jordan did poor and so did the Bulls. I see
the same happening with palmOne.

Todd Bradley did some really great stuff at palmOne. I think he didn't
go far enough, though. The Palm OS and it's hardware still lack in
features when compared to come-late Windows Mobile OS (PocketPC.) In
fact, a year later, ONE YEAR, after it's announcement, we still have
yet to see this famed new OS upgrade, Cobalt. Where is it guys? The
time it comes out, it'll be dated by Microsoft's new update and heck,
Microsoft is the king of late releases. I guess PalmSource want's to
win something against Microsoft.

I think Bradley could see the clouds darkening and the waves getting
choppy. The buy out of Handspring was a band-aide, most likely, in his
mind. It would hold off the doomed future that was soon coming. He
knew it and didn't want to be in charge when it happened. But it
doesn't have to be that way. palmOne can fight back and win. Don't
become the next Apple of PDA's and have a small market share with the
nicest people in the industry buying your hardware. No, fight now and
fight hard. LISTEN to your customers and, yes, look at what Microsoft
is giving their customers. Stop saying, "Our customers don't want that
stuff" and then release it a year later. That just makes you look
stupid.and late to the party. Read Brighthand's editoral on this very
subject and look to their bullet points of help and take them serious.
I agree with every one of them and think Shawn Barnett nailed it on
the head. You'll also see why I used the ship metaphor, too.

Look, I'd love to see Palm succeed and not fail. The Palm Pilot was a
great PDA and my first. I stuck with them for years before discovering
the power and advancement of the PocketPC. I came back, for a short
time, but have gone back to the Dark Side. Why? Because I'm not going
to pay about the same price for less. More and more people will do as
I have and that will leave palmOne lying on the ocean floor next to
the Titanic. I don't want that, I want to be on board the newest,
slickest, and most modern U.S.S. palmOne is what I want!

[pram] A sad day for us all. Any comments?
